BRUTALISM

Brutalism proposes a journey through the work of avant-garde architects from a point of view that explores the validity of modern ideas in contemporary architecture. Through the register of iconic buildings, this series aims at fragmenting the tectonic in order to prioritize the wise and magnificent game of volumes under light, thus understanding the capture of the work not only as a documental record but also as a visual synthesis that reveals its spirit through abstraction and maximum contrast.

In each image, architecture transcends its static nature to turn into a dynamic event in which the dialogue between light and shadow participates as a constructive gesture which defines the depth and the rhythm of the surfaces.

The series emphasizes the materiality of the work, rescuing the imperfection of concrete and the footprint of time in order to connect the monumental scale with an haptic dimension of architecture. In agreement with the contemporary premise which states that ornaments are a felony, each take proposes an almost sculptural abstraction which detaches the piece from its programmatic function and places it in the threshold between art and architecture.
